Our new mission

Our new mission

As you may be aware, the founder of Stepping Stones, Madeline Nineham, recently passed away.

Family, friends, Stepping Stones volunteers and supporters are all united in the desire to find homes for all the animals under Stepping Stones care; we know that this is what Madeline would have wanted. The focus now is to find new homes for the dogs in our care as soon as possible, after which Stepping Stones will close.

It is testimony to Madeline that she has left Stepping Stones in the capable hands of a fantastic team of volunteers, both in Greece and abroad, with the skills, knowledge and dedication to make this happen. The target is to find homes for all the animals by the end of summer 2023.

As you can imagine, this is a huge task, but with the support we have, and, hopefully, with continued funds from our generous donors, we are determined to achieve this.

We do need your support in the following ways:

  • Share this information, as it is important that people know that we can no longer take in new animals.
  • Share our animal profiles
  • If you are able to, we would gratefully accept any donations you can make, to support the care of our animals for the remaining time we are open.

A big thanks to everyone who has supported Madeline and Stepping Stones over the years. Thanks to you so many of Kefalonia’s stray and abandoned dogs are now living a great new life in their loving forever homes. We will continue to post updates about Stepping Stones on our website and social media platforms.

Our best wishes and thank you in advance,
from all of us at Stepping Stones xx
